IoT FAQs

What network technologies and bands does your IoT M2M SIM support?

Our IoT M2M SIM cards are designed for maximum compatibility and reliability across a wide range of devices and geographies. They support 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and LTE-M (Cat-M1), ensuring optimal connectivity for everything from legacy equipment to the latest low-power IoT applications.

The SIMs operate across multiple frequency bands to ensure seamless connectivity with local networks in over 180 countries. With multi-network roaming capabilities, the SIM can switch between partner networks.

We also support eUICC (eSIM) functionality for remote SIM provisioning. Our eUICC SIMs allow for over-the-air profile updates without needing a physical SIM swap.

How many operators and countries are covered by your M2M SIM cards?

Our IoT SIM cards provide global connectivity across more than 600 networks in over 180 countries. Thanks to multi-network roaming agreements, the SIM has multiple networks available to it in any given location, significantly reducing coverage blackspots.

This is particularly beneficial for mission-critical M2M and IoT applications where consistent connectivity is essential—whether you're deploying devices across Europe, North America, Asia, or remote regions with limited infrastructure.

Do OV support eSIM/eUICC and remote SIM provisioning?

Yes — our connectivity solution supports eUICC (eSIM) technology, enabling remote SIM provisioning in line with GSMA standards (SGP.02 for M2M). This allows profiles to be downloaded, activated, and managed over the air (OTA), removing the need for manual servicing or physical access to update SIM profiles in the field.

This is ideal for OEMs, MVNOs, and enterprises deploying devices at scale, especially across multiple regions. With eSIM, you gain flexibility to update profiles without touching the device — reducing logistics costs and extending device life cycles.

We also support MFF2 (embedded) form factors in addition to standard plastic SIMs (2FF, 3FF, 4FF), ensuring compatibility with both rugged industrial hardware and consumer-grade devices.

How can OEMs or MVNOs white-label your SIMs and platform?

We offer comprehensive white-label solutions for OEMs, MVNOs, and resellers looking to deliver branded connectivity to their customers.

This includes:

  • Unbranded SIM cards as standard. Your own branded SIM cards with your logo and design can also be arranged.
  • API access for integration into your own systems, portals, or platforms.
  • Dedicated account management to help you onboard and scale your service in-market.

Whether you're launching your own IoT connectivity product or embedding connectivity into hardware, our platform and infrastructure let you go to market faster — with your own brand front and centre.

What SIM management tools and APIs are available?

OV ONE, our Connectivity Management Platform (CMP) includes a robust SIM management portal and API suite that gives you full visibility and control over your entire SIM fleet — whether you're managing dozens or thousands of connected devices.

Key features include:

  • Real-time SIM status monitoring: activate, suspend, or deactivate SIMs instantly.
  • Usage tracking: view data consumption per SIM or group, with alerts for thresholds.
  • Grouping and tagging: organise SIMs by region, client, or device type for easier management.
  • Detailed reporting via API: access data usage and billing insights.
  • Secure REST APIs: integrate all management features into your own platform or CRM.

These tools are essential for resellers, MVNOs, and OEMs looking to efficiently scale, automate operations, and maintain full control over connectivity lifecycles.

What pricing models do you offer?

We understand that IoT is fast-moving and that pricing models need to keep pace. As a dedicated IoT MNO, we’re uniquely positioned to be creative and responsive — building commercial models that evolve with your business rather than locking you into rigid structures.

Can we track usage and get real-time alerts?

Yes — OV ONE, our M2M SIM management platform gives you full visibility into near real-time data usage and enables custom alerts to help you stay in control and avoid unexpected charges.

Key capabilities include:

  • Live usage tracking: Monitor data consumption per SIM or across entire groups in real time.
  • Custom alerts: Set usage thresholds by SIM or group — receive notifications when limits are reached.
  • API access: Integrate usage and alert data into your own backend systems or customer portals.

These tools are especially valuable for resellers and MVNOs offering service to end customers — ensuring control, transparency, and cost-efficiency across the board.

What security measures are in place (VPN, firewalls, encryption)?

Security is fundamental to our IoT connectivity offering. We provide multiple layers of protection to ensure your data and devices remain secure across the network.

Key security features include:

  • Private APNs: Isolate your device traffic from the public internet, creating a secure, closed environment for your M2M communications.
  • IPSec and GRE VPNs: Set up secure tunnels between your infrastructure and our core network, ensuring end-to-end encryption and reliable data transport.
  • Firewalling: Apply access control rules at the SIM or network level to block unauthorized inbound or outbound traffic.
  • IMSI Locking: Prevent SIM misuse by locking it to a specific device or IMEI.

Combined with network redundancy and monitoring, our platform ensures your devices stay connected and secure — even at scale.

How are APN, fixed IP, and QoS handled?

We provide flexible options for APN configuration, static IP addressing, and quality of service (QoS) — giving you the control and performance needed for mission-critical applications.

APN (Access Point Name):

  • Use our default shared APN for quick deployment, or
  • Set up a custom private APN for enhanced security, device grouping, or traffic routing control.

Fixed (Static) IPs:

  • Public or private static IP addresses are available on request to your SIMs for direct device access, remote monitoring, or server-to-device communication.
  • Useful for applications like CCTV, telemetry, and VPN access where predictable addressing is essential.

Quality of Service (QoS):

  • Prioritise traffic types to ensure consistent latency and bandwidth.
  • Ideal for time-sensitive applications like real-time telemetry, voice, or video.
  • Available on request depending on region and network partner capabilities.

Which regulatory and network certifications do you have?

Our SIMs and connectivity services adhere to key international regulatory standards and certifications, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and legal compliance across global deployments.

Key certifications and compliance areas include:

  • GSMA-compliant SIM profiles and eUICC provisioning (SGP.02 for M2M)
  • RoHS and CE certification for SIM hardware
  • Global network type approvals covering over 180 countries
  • Compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR for all customer data handling
  • Carrier-grade infrastructure standards, with redundancy and high availability across core network services

How do you handle permanent and IoT roaming restrictions?

As an IoT MNO we are uniquely positioned to control our own agreements with global roaming partners. This has enabled us ensure all of our roaming agreements permit the resale of IoT Connectivity/permanent roaming, and removes any risk of your service being impacted.

Some countries (e.g., Brazil, India, Turkey) impose regulatory restrictions on the long-term use of foreign SIMs within their borders. To address this, we offer:

  • Localised IMSI options: Access to multi-IMSI profiles or local operator partnerships to comply with national regulations while maintaining global platform control.
  • eUICC (eSIM) provisioning: Remotely push a compliant local profile to a device already in the field — no SIM swap needed.
  • Country-by-country compliance guidance: Our team can advise you on current roaming policies and best practices before you deploy.

This approach helps ensure connectivity continuity.

What’s the process for onboarding, activating, and deactivating SIMs?

Our onboarding and SIM lifecycle process is designed to be fast, scalable, and fully self-service.

Onboarding:

  • Order physical SIMs (2FF/3FF/4FF) or embedded eSIMs (MFF2).
  • Ability to pre-configured SIMs ready for activation.
  • Access OV ONE, our connectivity management platform or use our API to assign SIMs to groups, set data limits, and configure network behaviour.

Activation:

  • Activate SIMs instantly via portal or API.
  • Monitor connectivity status in real time.

Deactivation:

  • Suspend SIMs temporarily or permanently.
  • SIM and usage history available for 90 days for audit or billing purposes.
