OV's Rocks the Socks off MWC Barcelona!

What an exciting four days in Barcelona! The OV team, including Kristan, Paul, Phil, Suzie, Grant, Tom, Lewis, and Brad, made a splash at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). This marked our second consecutive year at the event, and the excitement was palpable as we engaged with potential customers and connected with existing partners and showcased OV on a global stage.

With the GSMA estimating that there were over 110,000 attendees, including a surprise visit from the King of Spain at this years ’event, the MWC buzz was real and felt like it was back to pre-pandemic times. Team OV was everywhere – manning stands, participating in key meetings, and making a significant impact on the show floor.

The star of our show was the launch of OV ONE, our ground breaking CMP! Attendees, both old and new customers, couldn't stop talking about its innovative features, and it even attracted a reasonable amount of competitor interest. It was a fantastic vindication of all the hard work the team has done on this, paving the way for us to simplify the onboarding and servicing of customers, making it easier for them to handle everything themselves. But it wasn't just our cutting-edge technology that turned heads. OV socks became the unexpected sensation of the event, with some even finding their way to the British Space Agency. It seems OV isn't just going global – it's going intergalactic!

Walking through the seven halls of the Gran Fira, we found ourselves in awe of the impressive stands from industry giants like Nokia, Vodafone, Telefonica, T-Mobile, Orange, and more. From robot dogs to human-like robots and giant drones and even a flying car! The displays offered a mesmerising glimpse into the future of mobile technology.

The event buzzed with enthusiastic discussions as AI took centre stage, captivating attendees with its transformative potential across diverse industries. Participants eagerly immersed themselves in conversations that delved into the intricate applications and far-reaching implications of artificial intelligence and professionals explored the nuanced aspects of AI, exchanging insights and fostering a deeper understanding of its evolving role.

Amidst the energy surrounding AI, another focal point emerged – the dynamic landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the ascendance of embedded SIM (eSIM) technology. In-depth discussions unfolded, shedding light on the strategies for embracing the manifold benefits of 5G connectivity and the strategic utilisation of licensed Low Power Wide Area(LPWA) technologies. Attendees engaged in insightful conversations about the transformative potential of Voice over LTE (VoLTE), examining its impact on communication networks and the broader technological ecosystem.

The convergence of these topics on the OV stand created abuzz where attendees navigated the intricate intersections of AI, IoT, 5G,eSIM, and VoLTE and their future development.
